Senate Stalls On Immigration Bill

Although the Senate didn't take action last week on the immigration bill, AFBF is not sitting idly by watching time pass. Today, AFBF posted a comment on The Hill's blog http://blog.thehill.com regarding this issue. AFBF points out farmers contribute 9 BILLION DOLLARS worth of business to the U.S. economy yearly, and without a viable immigration bill this money will likely leave our country. If this money leaves the U.S. it will go to foreign economies and foreign farmers. Check out AFBF's response at The Hill Blog, then contact your Senator and urge them to support this important piece of legislation!

AFBF does not represent the majority of it's members on the immigration issue or other important issues. Three per-cent of the dairy farms in the US produce fifty per-cent of the milk. The "corporate dictatorship" (the three per-cent)is being represented by Farm Bureau and DFA. We are long time members of both organizations but the big boys (mega corp farms) have taken over the policy making in both organizations. Family Farmers need representation in congress!

AFBF is a grassroots organization. Policy is set by members, and starts at the county level, with people like you and I. Only producers have voting rights, therefore ensuring that all Farm Bureau policy is made from the bottom up by real farmers and ranchers. As a member of your county Farm Bureau, you have the opportunity to choose who your voting delegates are, and you have the opportunity to introduce policy through the resolution process. AFBF policy represents the majority of it's members.
