Foundation for Agriculture Updates Mobile Game Kiosks

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 24, 2014 – The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture debuted the newest technology tool for My American Farm at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 95th Annual Convention in San Antonio earlier this month.

The newly designed kiosks include iPad stands where users can play My American Farm games using the My American Farm app. The kiosk set features three roll-up banners with My American Farm branding and three locking iPad stands. Kiosks are freestanding learning centers that do not need to be connected to the Internet while games are played. They have become a popular feature at fairs, festivals, community centers and office buildings. Individuals or groups interested in purchasing a mobile kiosk set should contact foundation@fb.org for pricing and ordering information.

State and local Farm Bureaus and partners can also create their own kiosks by downloading the free kiosk program online and building a game display with a laptop or personal computer. Several states have taken advantage of this opportunity. Email myamericanfarm@fb.org to request sample images and more information.

The offline computer version of My American Farm was updated Jan. 10. The latest version includes Power Up, an energy education game made possible by Tri State Generation and Transmission Association. The new global agriculture game, The Great Seed Search, is also available on the new kiosk version. Users who are currently operating the 2013 version can update their kiosk program by going to www.myamericanfarm.org and accessing the link under Educator Resources. First-time users can also download the free program using the same link.

My American Farm is an educational game platform launched in 2011 to engage Pre-K through fifth-grade learners in the discovery of important agricultural issues. Today the free site offers 19 agriculturally themed games and more than 100 free educator resources, such as lesson plans, activity sheets and comics.

The My American Farm educational resource is a special project of the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture. The site and resources are made possible through the generous support of title sponsor, DuPont Pioneer. To take advantage of the free My American Farm resources, games, and activities, visit www.myamericanfarm.org.
