McCloy Fellowship in Agriculture
The McCloy Fellowship program was begun by the American Council on Germany (ACG) in 1976 to give young American and German professionals an opportunity to broaden their professional experience and to establish working relationships with their transatlantic counterparts. McCloy Fellowships are designed to provide Americans and Germans extensive consultations with their peers overseas.
In 1979, the ACG established fruitful partnerships with the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) and the Deutscher Bauernverband (DBV), the German farmers’ association, for the McCloy Fellowship in Agriculture. Each year since, American and German farmers and agricultural experts have participated in the program.
In the 21st century, it is crucial that the new generation of professionals in both countries, many of whom are less aware than their predecessors of the importance of U.S.-German cooperation, have the opportunity to establish personal and professional ties with their transatlantic counterparts.
