Director, Member Engagement

DEPARTMENT:                         Leadership, Education & Engagement

 

POSITION OBJECTIVE:       Provide staff leadership and support for the AFB Women’s Leadership program and Health & Safety program.  

 

REPORTS TO:                           Managing Director, Member Engagement

 

LOCATION:                            Washington, DC

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Women’s Leadership (WL) Program:

  • Provide staff leadership and support for the Women’s Leadership program, WL Committee and related projects including national conferences, quarterly committee meetings, new committee member orientation, and associated events.  
  • Provide staff leadership and support for annual meeting programs and events led by the WL Committee.
  • Collaborate with communications staff on content for social media efforts. Coordinate postings, logistics and tracking of social media for the committee and quarterly reports for the AFBF Board of Directors. 
  • Provide leadership and support for Women’s Communications Boot Camp and alumni events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with state staff working in related areas and serve as a resource to states in developing WL programs.
  • Manage registration and billing for WL programs, develop materials and evaluations, maintain records and files relating to the WL projects.
  • Present programs related to WL and leadership development at state events as requested.
  • Collaborate as needed in all other program areas for which the Leadership, Education & Engagement Department has responsibility.
  • Collaborate with accounting team to develop and manage budgets.
  • Provide reports to the AFBF Board of Directors.
  • Conduct other responsibilities and functions as assigned.

Health and Safety (H&S):

  • Develop ASAP Week materials, communication, resources, including social media posts, in cooperation with state staff leads. 
  • Develop content and maintain ASAP event webpage, and toolkit containing searchable links of health and safety resources.  
  • Promote and explore opportunities to advance the Think F.A.S.T. training program for youth.
  • Collaborate and assist in planning of the annual state Farm Bureau Health & Safety Network Conference.
  • Serve on the Farm State of Mind working group and support as needed.

General:

  • Serve on a cross-functional team to plan, schedule and provide meeting support of programs during AFBF annual convention and national leadership conference/FUSION.
  • Perform general office duties and work with colleagues to ensure efficient and timely operations.

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

Collaborate with Leadership, Education & Engagement staff. Work with other AFBF and affiliated company staff, volunteer leaders and state staff as needed.

 

EDUCATION OR TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of five years related work experience
  • Experience in building and maintaining professional partnerships
  • Excellent oral communication, presentation, time management, and organizational skills

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/SKILLS:

  • Farm Bureau experience
  • Experience working with committees and or women’s programs
  • Experience working in associations and/or working with volunteers, especially in agriculture
  • Degree in an agricultural or leadership development field

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Travel (approximately 15 - 20%) and willingness to work weekends as needed.
