American Farm Bureau Federation’s Paul Schlegel was quoted in a Bloomberg article about immigrant farm workers. Bloomberg explains that “U.S. farmers seek replacements for the thousands of undocumented farmworkers scared away by anti-immigrant policy.”

Schlegel, AFBF managing director of public affairs and economics, explained that farmers have had less workers in recent years. “People aren’t showing up the way they used to,” he said. “The H-2A program isn’t the best, but you have to weigh that against an ICE raid, when you could lose hundreds of workers in a flash.”
