Current priority issues for Farm Bureau include the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed “Waters of the U.S. Rule” and agricultural labor reform, in addition to tax policy that encourages private initiative and economic growth.
The Farm Bureau formally launched its #DitchTheRule campaign at the end of April, asking its members to resist the proposed EPA water rule, which would impose unworkable regulations on the nation’s farms if implemented.
“This rule is an end run around congressional intent and rulings by the U.S. Supreme Court, alike,” American Farm Bureau Federation President Bob Stallman said. “Congress and the courts have both said that the 50 states, not the EPA, have power to decide how farming and other land uses should be restricted. It’s time to ditch the rule.”
