The following statement may be attributed to American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall:
“Secretary Sonny Perdue’s recent appointment of Matt Lohr to lead USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service is welcome news for the farmers and ranchers we serve. As a fifth-generation farmer and Farm Bureau member, Lohr understands the importance of land and natural resources to agriculture. He knows how hard our members work to leave those assets in better shape for the next generation.
“NRCS plays an important role in working with farmers and ranchers in helping to protect agricultural land and our environment.
“Farm Bureau is especially proud of the selection of Matt for this position because he is a product of our leadership development programs. He earned our top national award for Young Farmers & Ranchers, the Excellence in Agriculture award. We know just how capable and committed he is. We congratulate the new chief on his appointment and look forward to working with him and his team.”
