The 2025 American Farm Bureau Federation’s Ag Innovation Challenge opened applications this week and announced a big change to the prize money. Chad Smith has more.

Smith: The American Farm Bureau Federation, in partnership with Farm Credit, is doubling the top prize at this year’s Ag Innovation Challenge. Chase Heineman, director of industry affairs for AFBF, talks about the change.
Heineman: The winner of the 2025 Ag Innovation Challenge will take home $100,000 in funding for their business, and really the decision to double the prize comes from the realization that everyday entrepreneurs are working to address the challenges facing the agriculture sector. Farm Bureau wants to ensure they have the resources to continue that great work and so by doubling the prize money, AFBF hopes to double the impact.
Smith: He says the Challenge is open to anyone with an innovative idea for rural America.
Heineman: Well, the competition is open to any startup with an innovative business plan or product or service that helps meet the challenges facing America's farmers, ranchers, and rural communities. We're really looking for entrepreneurs from all backgrounds and from all regions of the country who can produce those solutions for our agricultural communities.
Smith: Interested entrepreneurs can apply now through June 15.
Heineman: So, they can visit our website. There they can learn more information about the program as a whole as well as find the application.
Smith: Again, go to fb.org/challenge. Chad Smith, Washington.
