WHAT IS HAPPENING:

Congress, as a whole, is failing America’s families, not just on the farm, but in every home that relies on the safe, affordable food grown by the men and women who work year-round to provide it.

The House Agriculture Committee successfully marked up the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024, passing the bill out of committee on a bipartisan vote. It’s been more than 100 days since the House Agriculture Committee passed a bipartisan bill.  Since then, there has been no action in either chamber.

Your messages are needed to get Congress to take action now.

WHY IT MATTERS?

Congress cannot wait to act and delay. It has been two years of failing to do what it must when it comes to the farm bill. There is no time to delay for some farmers in light of the antiquated safety net programs and current economic conditions.

High inflation, severe weather, and plummeting crop prices are a recipe for disaster unless Congress finally steps up to do the right thing by modernizing the farm bill or providing immediate assistance.

Farming is a difficult and risky business, yet critical to the well-being of our nation.

The farm bill is essential for farmers and ranchers, as it ensures funding for risk management tools for farmers.

The comprehensive package also ensures:

• Our nation’s food supply remains secure;

• Access to nutrition for low-income families;

• Availability of conservation programs;

• Trade development; and

• Investments in agricultural research.

Urge your lawmakers to stay focused on a new, modernized farm bill, or other legislation, that addresses the many changes and challenges on the farms around the country.

Write to your lawmakers today and tell them to support the farm bill, or other legislation, and ask for its swift passage so we can have a bill that helps farmers and ranchers before the Election!
