Veteran Farmer Award of Excellence
The Veteran Farmer Award of Excellence sponsored by Farm Credit recognizes one veteran who has served or is currently serving in any branch of the United States Military and is actively involved in agriculture and their community. Applications will be reviewed based on excellence in farming and community impact. This program seeks to elevate and celebrate those who have served our country and continue to do so through involvement in agriculture and the community.
Farm families and Farm Bureau are proud of the farmer and rancher veterans across rural America. Their sacrifices make it possible for us to enjoy the freedoms we have in our country, and they should all know how much we value and appreciate them.

Meet the 2027 Veteran Farmer Award of Excellence Winner

James “Jim” Hartman, a former U.S. Army major from North Carolina, is the third recipient of the Veteran Farmer Award of Excellence. Hartman has dedicated his post-military career to helping veterans, beginning farmers and rural communities thrive. Read this news release to learn more about Hartman.
