Women’s Communications Boot Camp is an intensive training opportunity for any female Farm Bureau member interested in building skills needed to communicate about agriculture and for Farm Bureau. To date, 210 women have graduated from the program. These skilled alumni provide Farm Bureau with a passionate and persuasive group of advocates who connect with influencers on the local, state and national levels.
The American Farm Bureau Federation intends to host the Fall Session of Women’s Communications Boot Camp in Washington, D.C., October 13-16, 2020. The application period is July 1-August 15, 2020. Participants will receive training on advocacy, public speaking, communicating with elected officials, social media strategy, targeted messaging and working with the media.
Online applications are now open for the fall session.
Women's Boot Camp graduates use their training:
by positively influencing elected legislators.
by creating or acting upon local media opportunities to support Farm Bureau’s policy work.
by joining social media campaigns to share positive messages about agriculture.
by influencing consumers when planning and implementing outreach events.
by speaking about agricultural innovations and enterprises with a variety of audiences, community groups, in classrooms and with neighbors.
AFBF is closely monitoring the state of the pandemic in the United States and will make a decision as to whether to hold Communications Boot Camp by August 31. We are exploring all of our options and are taking into account the procedures necessary to keep participants, volunteers and staff safe while providing this valuable training. Individuals that apply should save their application to apply to either of the 2021 Women’s Communications Boot Camp sessions in the case of a cancellation. Dates for 2021 will be announced in the fall after the congressional calendar is released.
