Virginia Houston joined the American Farm Bureau Federation in 2026 as senior director of government affairs. She leads the organization’s work on agricultural trade and tax policy.
Before joining AFBF, Virginia directed trade policy, market access, international biotechnology and crop protection efforts at the American Soybean Association. Earlier in her career, she held positions with the American Seed Trade Association, the National Pork Producers Council and USDA.
Virginia earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Mississippi and a master’s degree in political management from The George Washington University.
A Tennessee native, Virginia grew up on her family’s beef cattle farm, which remains in operation alongside a livestock auction market.
